GR-characters praised or criticized

In the book  "The Hatelist", the two main characters are a girl named Valerie Leftman. And a boy named Nick Levill. They attend a high school called Garvin High which is where the tragedy that haunted main character Valerie happened. They were both picked on at school and away from it. They were outcasts at their school and constant targets to be humiliated by their peers. A hatelist was created by the two and it enlisted all the people they hated and disliked. People who picked on them and just got on their nerves in general. But Nick had plans for those who wound up on the list and thus created a massacre in the commons at Garvin high killing those on the list. Valerie was unaware of Nicks plans to kill people and even tried to stop him in his vicious actions. However, I dont think it was write in her to create the list in the first place or even joke about harming someone just because they bother you or you dont agree with something they say. So in a way I feel Valerie should be criticized because she did create the list. But I think her not knowing of Nick's plan makes her somewat innocent, Also her saving someones life and taking a bullet herself for someone makes her heroic and brave. This is what makes me consider to praise her and criticize Nick. So Valerie is a little bit of both, and Nick is to be criticized

  1. I would have to agree with your analysis, Ardmore. I think the two sides of Valerie make her an interesting and real character. It makes us sympathize with her and also distrust her.
