"Hatelist" a novel by Jennifer Brown has an incredible plot and storyline as well as message. Its only the beginning an it has already created mix thoughts and feelings in my mind about the situation thats going on in the book. This hatelist that was created by Valerie and her boyfriend Nick was a list of peers at their school that upset them or picked on them for various reasons. But I feel that Val and Nick should have handled their being tormented a different way, rather than creating a hatelist and Nick planning to kill the people it listed. Being picked on in high school is just a part of learning to ignore someone's ignorance, and learning how to communicate with others. I think that was their main problem in "Hatelist". Non-communication. Instead of trying to communicate with the students they had problems wit an come to some agreement or understanding, they created a hatelist. But then again on the other hand, maybe they were influenced by other people to create this. I mean maybe someone else agreed with them or motivated them to makeup the list other than the people or "jerks" (as Nick and Val would say) that were on it in the first place. Only time will tell and show how Val deals with the pressure of returning to school after being apart of an incident that killed innocent people. I'm science fiction reader, so when a book like this crosses my path its enjoyable and I can appreciate this one because its realistic and a lesson taught within it.
