blog #9 free choice

I think that the book "Hatelist" tells a sad story that can be viewed  and analyzed by everyone. But as far as who it can relate to it, and who it sends a message to, I believe that would be teenagers trying to deal with the pressures of being bullied. Not to say that bullying only occurs with teenagers or only happens at school. But the book gives information that its common in these type of places and it relates back to the title and the reason a hate list was created in the first place. Being bothered by someone can happen anywhere, buts its up to the person who's being picked on to handle it in the best way possible. The main characters in this story (Nick Levil, Valerie Leftman) handled their problems by creating a list of everyone at school who tormented them or they just didn't like. But people react to situations in different ways, thus is the reason of the tragedy that happened at their school. Valerie was content with just having a list of people she didn't like, but Nick had further aspirations of death for the people who were on the list. In all actuality Nick became a bully himself when he went to school with a motive to kill innocent people. Sure they picked on him and called Valerie names, but in my eyes that doesn't mean they deserved to die. I guess it all goes back to the point I made earlier that people react differently. Valerie was shocked by Nicks actions and was unaware that he planned to take the list that far. Nick felt that killing was the only way of dealing with his problems. I believe that this book shows everyone you have to learn how to deal with your problems in a mature way, killing and causing harm to others doesn't solve anything. It further complicates the situation.
